If your Hisense TV goes blank, showing the dreaded black screen of death, you can do a few tweaks to get it fixed. Before that, you need to know what you’re dealing with. The problem or solution would depend on whether your TV has no picture but sounds, or has sounds without images on the screen.
Hisense TV Plays Sounds But Shows No Pictures
If you notice that you can hear the audio of your favorite TV shows but you can’t see the images on the screen, it could be due to a software glitch. To check the sound, you should:
- Turn on your TV.
- Stream or play something through the TV on your Roku or through your Blu-ray player.
- If you can hear sounds like the Game of Thrones intro; then factory resetting, power resetting, or unplugging/replugging your TV power cord could work.
No Picture but Images Moving and Sound
This is also known as the flashlight test. No picture but sound and images moving usually signal a bigger problem that would cost you some cash.
- Turn on your TV.
- Take a flashlight and point at the screen. Stand two inches away from the TV and point the flashlight right at it.
- If you notice some movement, like people moving (even though you can’t see them clearly). Then it could be likely that the TV’s lighting system has a problem. If you notice nothing and the TV is still blank, it actually means the same thing, only more serious.
How to Factory Reset Your Hisense TV
Factory resetting your Hisense TV will erase any data stored within it and revert all custom settings to factory settings.
If your TV has any serious software issues or some malware or virus got stuck up there, this would help clear it out.
To do this, you should:
- Make sure your Hisense TV is turned on
- Press Menu on the remote control
- Move to Settings and then select Storage and Reset
- Click Factory Data Reset
How to Power Reset Your Hisense TV
Before you go straight to wiping off your TV memory and starting afresh, you should first power reset your TV to see if it fixes the issues. Power resetting your TV is simply turning the TV off and on, just as you would do on your smartphone.
This tip is great and would work if your TV doesn’t have any software or hardware issues. It would easily resolve any glitches.
To do this, you should:
- Make sure your Hisense TV is turned on.
- Press Menu on the remote control.
- Navigate to Settings and then select About.
- Click Restart.
Power Plug Fix
This is similar to power-resetting your TV, but it might be more effective than just restarting your TV.
To do this your TV needs to be turned on:
- Go to the power plug and pull it out from the socket.
- Wait for some time. 30 seconds should be fine, but give it 60 seconds to take a breather.
- After the time elapses, you can plug back the power cord.
- Turn on your TV and you can get back to enjoying your favorite movies.
Once again, this would only work if your TV doesn’t have any serious issues or just goes blank due to a software glitch.
Get a Technician
If none of the methods above brings your TV back to life, then you would have to get a technician to look at it. Chances would be that the lighting system for the TV has gone bad and would need to be fixed and replaced.
There are tons of YouTube tutorial videos that could teach you how to fix your TV problems by yourself; but if you are unsure of how to proceed, it is safer to call in a professional technician to get the problem resolved – this would only cost you a few dollars.
